Abstract

The Handbook on Internal and External Communication produced by the Police Board is intended for all police employees to harmonize and clarify communication. The Handbook covers organizational responsibilities in communication, the goals of police communication, and stakeholder communication. The Guidelines emphasize citizens’ right to receive accurate and up-to-date information about the activities of authorities exercising public power. The aim of communication is to increase citizens’ trust in the police. Ethical principles highlighted include fairness, reliability of communication, accuracy of information, and transparency.
