Abstract

The Journalistic Code of Conduct by the Dutch National Public Broadcasters (NPO) applies to those who carry out journalistic activities for the national public media institutions when providing productions in the field of news, information and education. The Code includes principles aimed at the preparation, publication and accountability of journalistic productions and covers topics such as independence, truthfulness, and transparency. Through this Code, the public gets insights into the working methods of broadcasting employees and the rules and standards for journalistic conduct of public broadcasters. In the event of complaints about non-compliance with this Code, the public can contact the editorial board or broadcaster, or the Public Broadcasting Ombudsman, if the complaint has not been answered or handled satisfactorily.
