Abstract

In February 2023, Microsoft launched the new Bing, an AI-powered web search that helps users aggregate search results. It runs on a next-generation model from OpenAI and combines cutting-edge AI technology with web search. Microsoft attaches great importance to responsible AI and has developed the new Bing in collaboration with experts and by its voluntary principles and standards. The non-mandatory document The new Bing: Our Approach to Responsible AI describes Microsoft’s approach to identifying, measuring and mitigating potential harms from using AI to ensure responsible use of the technology. Particular attention is paid to protecting privacy, especially when children use Bing.
