Our partners from the Institute for Comparative Media and Communication Studies (CMC) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) and the University of Klagenfurt (AAU) organised a Research Café at the Department of Media and Communications of the University of Klagenfurt.
Participants discussed the forms that dialogic communication ethics can take in real-world contexts, ranging from theoretical foundations to practical implementation. The conversation covered issues such as dialogic communication ethics itself, accountability beyond professional media, and the citizen perspective in Austria.
A key finding emerged from the discussion: although civil society remains marginal in many ethical frameworks, promising examples of good practice demonstrate how dialogue can be placed at the centre of communication ethics.
