New DIACOMET scientific article examines responsible AI in public communication

DIACOMET researchers published a new article, Tackling the challenges of artificial intelligence for public communication: Governance and accountability discourses about the responsible use of AI, in New Media & Society. The article was first published online on 7 July 2026 and brings together DIACOMET research on artificial intelligence, communication ethics, governance and accountability.

The study examines how existing governance and accountability frameworks address the responsible use of AI in public communication. Drawing on an analysis of 435 national and international codes of ethics and other normative guidelines, the authors identify significant gaps in existing frameworks while highlighting pathways towards more coherent approaches that promote transparency, fairness and responsibility in the use of AI.

The publication was authored by Colin Porlezza, Laura Amigo, Tobias Eberwein, Marten Juurik, Marko Milosavljević, Mari-Liisa Parder, Marie Rathmann and Krisztina Rozgonyi, bringing together expertise from across the DIACOMET consortium.
