Our partner from Università della Svizzera italiana Laura Amigo published an article on the European Journalism Observatory (EJO). Drawing on research work conducted within DIACOMET, she examines how different public communication sectors address artificial intelligence (AI), and also presents our project more broadly.
The author discusses our analysis of how ethical codes and guidelines across different sectors address particular issues, including AI. Of the 435 documents examined, 63 explicitly reference AI or automation, and only 20 of those place AI at the center of their discussion. She concludes that “in the age of artificial intelligence, preserving the ethics of public communication is no longer just a technical imperative: it is a democratic requirement”.
