Abstract

The AI Guidelines by the Austria Press Agency (APA) provide a framework for action for all companies of the APA, dealing with the challenges of artificial intelligence alongside existing regulations such as the APA Editorial Manual and the Code of Honor of the Austrian Press Council. Based on ethical principles such as respect for human autonomy, fairness and explainability, APA created a set of recommendations, including the need for the priority of human action and human supervision. Further examples of requirements are related to transparency and data safety, diversity, non-discrimination and fairness, as well as accountability. The guide also includes a checklist for dealing with AI with specific guidance in various situations.
