The City of Viennas’ “Social Media Manual” provides a set of guidelines for responsible communication in Web 2.0 and in social media. Based on the Service Regulations of the City of Vienna it is aimed at employees of the City of Vienna who privately or work-related participate in social media activities. Therefore, these guidelines demonstrate the responsible use of social media to protect them from employment law problems. The basic rules contain copyright, secrecy and privacy protection, overall responsibility and respect, e.g., for other users. Reputation protection and technical key points are also discussed.
