Abstract

This Code comprises the Community Guidelines of Snapchat, a US-based international instant messaging service for visuals. With over 45 million users in the EU, Snapchat is designated as a very large online platform (VLOPS) by the European Commission and must comply with the strictest rules of the Digital Service Act (DSA). For instance, systematic risks such as illegal content, public safety and health, protection of minors and fundamental rights such as freedom of expression, media freedom and pluralism, discrimination and consumer protection must be taken into account by the platform. The Code applies to all users and includes information about content or behaviour that poses a risk of severe harm to “Snapchatters”. More detailed information about topics such as sexual content, harassment and bullying, or harmful, false and deceptive information, can be found on linked subpages. Violations may result in deleted content, disabled accounts, or other restrictions.
