Abstract

The paper Core Values and Guiding Principles published by the Isocrates Foundation presents the main values and principles that shape the identity and culture of the organization and that inform its activities. The paper states that the organization aims at protecting and promoting public debate, which is seen as the cornerstone of democracy and a driver of social cohesion. Values and principles include independence (i.e., fact-based and bias-free decision-making), critical thinking (for tackling complex challenges, where openness, thoroughness and humility are seen as key) boldness (i.e., courage and resilience), collaboration (i.e., diversity and respectful cooperation and collective efforts in grantmaking strategies). The paper also describes the governance and management of the Isocrates Foundation.
