Abstract

The ELTA News Agency, aiming to be Lithuania’s most reliable news source, has a Code of Ethics for its employees (editors, journalists, translators, photographers). The Code outlines the principles and rules guiding ELTA employees’ professional conduct. It notes the importance of independence, transparency, objectivity, and adherence to both national and international legal frameworks. The Code mandates that journalists and translators work in the public interest, maintain the distinction between facts and opinions, ensure information quality, and reject discrimination. Also, it has Guidelines for handling conflicts of interest, accepting gifts, and maintaining the integrity and trustworthiness of ELTA. The document details the procedures for addressing Code violations.
