Abstract

This Guideline on the Principles of the Use of Artificial Intelligence was created by Algemeen Nederlands Persbureay (ANP), the largest news agency in the Netherlands. With the Guideline, they established basic principles on how editors of ANP deal with AI or derived AI-applications. With the Guideline, ANP is responding to the possible ways in which artificial intelligence – like prior automations – could change journalistic work. It is a living document that can be adapted by the editor-in-chief when developments call for it. According to ANP, violation of these Guidelines is regarded as violating their fundamental journalistic principles and is considered similar to committing plagiarism.
