Abstract

The Netiquette of Discussion Policy of Yle, Finland’s Public Broadcasting Company was established for audience interactions conducted on Yle’s website and all social media channels. The Netiquette addresses media users and aims to strengthen constructive and respectful public discourse. The Netiquette prohibits, for example, comments that can be considered hate speech or ethnic agitation. Yle publishes content on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Snapchat, and YouTube. It selectively opens some Finnish-language news articles for comments on its website. Comments are usually enabled only when the aim is to enrich the content or to create additional content for online comments.
