Abstract

As one of the earliest attempts to regulate AI, the Paris Charter on AI and Journalism initiated by Reporters Without Borders (Reporters sans frontières, RSF) defined legally non-binding ethics and principles for all journalists with regard to artificial intelligence (AI). The set of 10 fundamental ethical principles to protect the integrity of news in the age of AI aims to ensure that AI aligns with human rights, peace, and democracy while reflecting shared values. They prioritize human action, conduct independent assessments of AI systems, guarantee content responsibility and transparency, differentiate between authentic and synthetic content, and preserve diversity.
