Abstract

The Government Communication Principles by the central Dutch government present guiding principles intended to provide guidance when assessing concrete communication issues in concrete situations. The principles indicate in general terms the boundaries within which government communication should take place and apply both to communication with the public and the press. They were established through input from various state commissions and subsequent internal discussion in the Information Council. As an important foundation here, the duty to inform, as laid down in Article 110 of the Constitution and in the Government Information (Public Access) Act, always serves as a basis.
