DIACOMET representatives recently met with partners from the MeDeMAP project consortium on two occasions, strengthening collaboration and exchange within the Horizon Europe research community.
First, Erik Uszkiewicz from the Hungarian Europe Society represented DIACOMET at the MeDeMAP Consortium Meeting, held on 13 January 2026 in Brussels, Belgium. The morning session, hosted at the European Parliament, focused primarily on the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA). In the afternoon, roundtable discussions at Vrije Universiteit Brussel addressed key challenges related to journalism, media pluralism, and the state of democracy in Europe.
Shortly afterwards, representative from the University of Ljubljana prof. dr. Marko Milosavljević participated in the conference “Beyond the Audience: Rethinking Participation and Power in the Age of Data Capitalism”, also organised by MeDeMAP. The conference took place on 15–16 January 2026 at IULM University in Rome, Italy. At the event, our representative presented a collaborative paper based on project research titled “Attention Negotiation and Ethical Labour in Platform Capitalism”.

Both events provided valuable opportunities to reconnect with partners from our sister Horizon Europe project, expand professional networks, and exchange ideas and insights related to our ongoing research.
MeDeMAP is a Horizon Europe project addressing themes closely aligned with DIACOMET. Its aim is to “set out future-proof pathways to strengthen democracy through improving accountability, transparency, and effectiveness of media production, and expanding active and inclusive citizenship,” as stated on the project’s website.
