The panel “Environmental Activism, Justice and Ethics” took place on 14 July 2025 at the IAMCR Conference Communicating Environmental Justice: Many Voices, One Planet, held at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

As part of the DIACOMET initiative, the presentation “Many Voices, Shared Responsibility? Principles of Dialogic Communication in International Codes of Ethics – A Comparative Analysis” explored how ethical codes and guidelines incorporate participatory and dialogic principles in public communication. This collaborative presentation—carried out by Tobias Eberwein, Marie Rathmann, and Krisztina Rozgonyi (OeAW, Institute for Comparative Media and Communication Studies), together with Laura Amigo (Università della Svizzera Italiana)—reflects DIACOMET’s commitment to advancing communication ethics grounded in dialogue, inclusivity, and shared responsibility.

The evolving landscape of public communication highlights the increasing complexity of ethical challenges and the limitations of one-size-fits-all approaches. DIACOMET underscores the need to widen the ethical debate by considering diverse sociopolitical realities and fostering transnational dialogue on normative standards in communication.

We extend our sincere thanks to the IAMCR 2025 organisers for their outstanding coordination and their dedication to creating space for interdisciplinary exchange. The setting in Singapore provided a vibrant and thought-provoking environment for deepening global conversations on communication ethics.
