We invite you to participate in the creation and future operation of the DIACOMET NGO Network and join the kick-off meeting of our network, which will take place on 23rd of April 2025 at 12:00 – 1:30 PM (CET) via Zoom.

What is the DIACOMET NGO Network?

The DIACOMET project aims to build an international network of non-profit organizations (including but not limited to civil society organisations, civic media accountability organizations, media literacy and education groups, organizations active in the field of self-regulation and communication ethics etc.) with the goal of increasing participation and public trust in society. The NGO Network endeavours to promote dialogue and good communication in the public sphere.

What are the main purposes of the NGO network?

The network participates in developing an innovative type of civic accountability mechanism based on dialogic communication ethics.

Members of this network support individuals, groups and organizations in implementing DIACOMET’s Principles of Good Communication Conduct and give advice in ethical issues arising in public communication.

The network will contribute to the advancement of moral reasoning skills and ethical decision making by participating in the process of creating and testing a ‘dilemma game’. The game is generated as an interactive self-learning method for civil activists, university students, podcast content creators, journalists, PR & marketing professionals and any other interested individuals. The game allows people to practice ethical decision-making in a risk free and playful environment.

The network plays a vital role in the forum empowering minorities, youth and disadvantaged groups to safely utilize media and engage in public communication.

The network fights against extreme social and political polarization in public communication and media, as well as against fake news and disinformation spread by populist and illiberal actors. The network strives for bringing together like-minded democratic communities and individuals.

NGO partners will closely monitor the media market and reflect on necessary EU policy interventions, as certain measures may have an impact on the functioning of free and independent media and journalism.
