Abstract

The “Charter for Community Television” in Austria published by DORF TV, defines legally non-binding principles of community television, including independence and promotion of freedom of expression. Community TVs adhere to the principles of public access, allowing individuals and groups to express their opinions and provide information within legal boundaries. Priority is given to social, cultural and ethnic minorities, as well as those who are often overlooked by the media due to social marginalization or discriminatory practices. Moreover, local development and regional artists should be supported while remaining independent of external influences and aiming for a self-determined society.
