Abstract

The Association of Austrian Community Broadcasters’ “Charter of Free Broadcasting Austria” outlines the principles of free radios and community TVs as non-commercial broadcasters. These media organizations aim to provide the public with open access to media production and distribution, contributing to the diversity of opinion in broadcasting. While promoting community participation and dialogue, these broadcasters should uphold journalistic principles of careful, independent, and sometimes uncomfortable reporting, adhering voluntarily to the Code of Honour for the Austrian press. Furthermore, the document deals with freedom of expression, diversity of opinions, equality, human dignity, and democracy.
