Abstract

The “Code of Brussels” is a commitment to ethical behaviour in public affairs by members of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and is recommended to public relations professionals across the globe. The set of 12 guidelines recalls the previous codes of ethics, such as the Code of Venice and the Code of Athens. Public affairs practitioners shall uphold integrity, transparency, dialogue, accuracy, and confidentiality while avoiding dishonesty, deception, improper influence, inducements, and conflicts of interest. Violations of these principles may result in disciplinary action.
