Abstract

The “Code of Ethics for Prison Staff” developed by the Estonian Ministry of Justice applies to prison officer (this includes prison servant, probation officers and other prison employees, as well as students of vocational training for prison officers and students of corrections, as well as officials of the Department of Prisons of the Ministry of Justice). The code sets out the principles of communication with the public and the media, according to which public communication is allowed only if the employer has given permission for it. In addition, indecent, derogatory and immoral content is prohibited in internet communication, portals and communication in the media.
