Abstract

The “Code of Ethics for Researchers at the University of Ljubljana” provides ethical behaviour standards to guide teachers, researchers and doctoral students. The ethical principles relate to competence; the conduct of research; confidentiality; attitude towards the society; and authorship. In the section on the attitude towards the society, the code emphasizes social responsibility; respect for rights, dignity and diversity – particularly of vulnerable individuals; and equal treatment. Communication with the general public and the media needs to maintain the standards of honesty, credibility and responsibility.
