Abstract

This document sets out the code of conduct for journalists working for De Limburger, a regional newspaper in the Netherlands. It emphasizes editorial independence as the foundation of credible and ethical journalism. The code defines rules on transparency, source protection, political neutrality, privacy, conflicts of interest, gifts, travel, payments, and corrections. Journalists must avoid dependencies, clearly identify sources, protect privacy, and refrain from paid or partisan activities. Decisions on sensitive matters require consultation with the editor-in-chief. The code aims to safeguard journalistic integrity, independence, and public trust.
