Abstract

In the document “Discrimination and the Media” the United Nations’ Child Rights International Network (CRIN) provides legally non-binding guidance on how to influence the way children are portrayed in the media, with the goal of reducing discrimination and promoting fair representation. The portrayal of children in the media has a significant impact on how they are perceived and treated by society. For instance, the document issues that the media perpetuates myths, neglects wide-ranging issues, and often stereotypes children.
