Abstract

DOSSIER, an investigative and data journalism association, has established editorial guidelines based on the Code of Ethics for the Austrian Press. The content appears on online and, since 2019, in DOSSIER magazine, the first ad-free print magazine for investigative journalism in Austria. These non-binding guidelines aim to uphold journalistic principles and provide direction on ethical issues in reporting, including on various publication platforms. DOSSIER follows journalistic quality criteria and guidelines, including being transparent and comprehensible. It values credibility, independence, and careful research, as well as the protection of whistleblowers and responsible handling of data and sources. The editorial team encourages ongoing discussions about journalistic principles and welcomes reader participation.
