Abstract

For a long time, the Wiener Zeitung (now: WZ) was the oldest print daily newspaper in the world. However, since 2023 it has only been published online with a smaller editorial team as a digital compass that examines socially relevant topics in depth and prepares them in line with the claim of constructive journalism – both on its website wz.at and on social media. These Guidelines date back to the time before the reorganization and thus to when the Wiener Zeitung was a printed and multimedia, non-partisan quality daily newspaper owned by the federally funded Wiener Zeitung GmbH. The Guidelines state that journalistic freedom and quality should be ensured while maintaining independence and objectivity.
