Abstract

For a long time, the Wiener Zeitung (now WZ) was the oldest print daily newspaper in the world. However, since 2023 it has only been published online with a smaller editorial team as a digital compass that examines socially relevant topics in depth and prepares them in line with the claim of constructive journalism – both on its website wz.at and on social media. These guidelines date back to the time before the reorganization and thus to the Wiener Zeitung as a printed and multimedia, non-partisan quality daily newspaper owned by Wiener Zeitung GmbH, held by the federal government. It states that journalistic freedom and quality should be ensured while maintaining independence and objectivity.
