Abstract

The “Estonian Code of Journalism Ethics” is developed by the Estonian Newspaper Association in 1998 and it applies to all journalists. General principles cover the issues related to responsibilities of press in a free and democratic society. The second section is about independence of individual journalist and avoiding conflict of interests. The third section covers obligations towards the sources. The fourth section covers general principles and rules of publishing information. The fifth section is about the right to reply and sixth about advertising. The code was adopted in 1998 and it hasn’t been revised since.
