Abstract

The “Estonian Code of Teacher Ethics” developed by the Estonian Teachers’ Union is an agreement between teachers. The code outlines values such as dignity, honesty, fairness and independence. The code emphasizes loyalty to colleagues and says that teachers should never publicly criticize their colleagues. The code also emphasizes the teacher’s responsibility in shaping a society that respects human dignity. The code is being updated from 2024.
