Abstract

The European Commission’s High-Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence has published “Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy AI”. The main objective of the guidelines is to promote trustworthy AI and secure ethical and robust AI by putting forward a set of 7 key requirements that AI systems should meet. They are not intended to substitute any form of current or future policymaking or regulation but should be seen as a living document. Stakeholders committed to AI can voluntarily opt to use these guidelines as a method to operationalise their commitment, in particular by using the practical assessment list of Chapter III when developing, deploying or using AI systems.
