Abstract

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has voluntarily issued “IFJ Guidelines for Reporting on Violence Against Women”. The guidelines emphasize the importance of accurate identification, non-judgmental language, as well as respectfull and sensitive reporting, which includes providing appropriate interview settings and considering survivor preferences. In all cases, confidentiality should be maintained and it is commendable to use local resources and provide information on support organizations and services.
