Abstract

The Facebook channel of Médecins Sans Frontières Austria has a set of legally non-binding rules for engagement that encourage respectful exchange of different opinions. The channel provides information on the organization’s emergency aid activities in over 70 countries. While different opinions are welcome, harmful or disruptive behaviour is not allowed. Spreading fake news or conspiracy theories, infringing on the intellectual property rights of others, and displaying third-party advertising are also prohibited. Users must also comply with Facebook’s Terms of Use. Any content that violates the netiquette will be removed, and users who repeatedly violate the netiquette will be excluded from the discussion.
