Abstract

The “Recommendations for More Appropriate Reporting on the Elderly Population” by the Slovene Association of Journalists were drafted within the project Breaking Stereotypes about Age in the Media. Journalists shall avoid humiliation of the elderly by using the correct terms; avoid prevailing stereotypes about age and older people; avoid reporting that deepens the apparent conflict between the younger and older generations; etc. Editors shall give more space to contents relevant for older people; avoid sensationalism; keep the dignity of older people; and encourage journalists to talk to older people and address the issues comprehensively.
