Abstract

The Social Media Guidelines by the Austrian Armed Forces provide voluntary recommendations for military personnel on how to safely and responsibly use platforms like Facebook and YouTube for both personal and professional purposes. The Guidelines emphasise the importance of observing the law when using social media, avoiding insults or threats, and being cautious about sharing unverified information. Soldiers should be cautious when using social media, as their posts can have long-term consequences and they should consider how their posts may affect future job applications and be respectful in their interactions. Photos or videos armed forces personnel in uniform should be carefully considered.
