Abstract

This document explains how NU.nl, one of the largest news websites in the Netherlands, uses artificial intelligence in its journalistic work. AI is treated as a supporting tool, not a replacement for journalists, who remain fully responsible for all content. NU.nl does not publish journalistic material without human editorial oversight. AI may be used for research, analysis, summaries, and visual support, while protecting sources and sensitive data. The use of AI is disclosed when relevant. NU.nl is cautious with AI-generated and -edited images and upholds its ethical standards, independence, and core journalistic values while continuing to explore new technologies.
